"Lost in motion, I'm spinning"
I know I said Pictures of Black holes was my favourite track on this album, but this one might actually be my favourite...
A pretty big change in terms of tone, this one. I'm usually all about being as loud and raucous as possible. I get there in the middle section, but overall a much different vibe. I'm pretty proud of the guitar solo here. I'm not one for "shredding", I prefer to serve the music, but I felt like a huge ripping solo was a great way to end the song and the album.
The lyrics are the main drive for me in this song. If anyone reading this has ever tried or is trying to earn a living off the back of their own creativity, be it through music, artistry or even something like streaming, I'm sure you can relate to this.
To pour all of your thoughts and emotions, the very fibre of your being, quite literally expending blood, sweat and tears on occasion into whatever your output is only for no one to give a shit? It's fucking soul crushing. You don't really have any idea of what kind of progress you're making, if any, putting yourself into debt, barely scraping by.
To reference the lyrics more directly, it's like being stuck in a hole or a void, you don't know which way is up or the correct way, so you just dig and hope to "break through".
But in spite of all these obstacles, no matter how hard it is, you keep going. You put the work in and you earn it. Such is the life of a struggling creative in this world.
Video walkthrough
Lost in motion, I'm spinning
With no purchase to hold
Gravity pulls me inward
From the depths of my soul

No response or action
Just lifeless and cold
Are you listening? I can't tell
Where's my sense of control?

C.
Stuck in a hole with no direction
Of all the things that I'll ever do, ever do
And despite my machinations
I dig down but I'm never breaking through

Like alkaline in my brain
I feel my senses drain
Sinking further, I capsize
With my eyes on the prize

C.
Stuck in a hole with no direction
Of all the things that I'll ever do, ever do
And despite my machinations
I dig down but I'm never breaking through
